RIDGE SPRING – Willie C. Rutland, 81, of Ridge Spring, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Ridge Spring Baptist Church with interment in Ridge Spring Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Military Rites conducted by Rev. Chris Yeargin. Active pallbearers are the Legoneers and honorary pallbearers are the men’s fellowship class of Ridge Spring Baptist Church.

Mr. Rutland was born in Wagener, SC, son of the late Carlton Rutland and Nona Harsey Rutland. He was an Army veteran. He had worked as a machinist for a Naval Ship Yard. He was a member of the American Legion and Masons. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ridge Spring.

Surviving are his wife, Daisy Mae McGee Rutland; children, Linda Rutland; and Helen Greene both of Lexington; grandchildren: Bobby Letendre, Ronnie Greene, Joanne (Vincent) Shaw; great grandchildren: Alexander, Cameron, Ruby and Baylee. He was predeceased a daughter, Geneva Letendre; sisters, Valarie Whittle, Elaine Clawson; brother, David Rutland.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 31, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ridge Spring Baptist Church or Ridge Garden Club Cemetery Fund. Milton Shealy Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
