William H. Poth
Born in Galion, OH, he was the son of the late Raymond M. and Adelaide (Frye) Poth.
Mr. Poth was a manager for JC Penney department stores, opening the Valley Mall store in Hagerstown MD, and retiring from the Martinsburg WVA store in 1985.
He was an usher and member of the Church of Epiphany in Port Orange Fl. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rotary, BPOE, Sertoma and the Chamber of Commerce, and delivered Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed living in Ponce Inlet FL and took advantage of the beach, fishing and golf. He was a member of Hidden Lakes Country Club as well as a member of the Over the Hill Gang – “the Boys Club” in Ponce Inlet. Another hobby was stained glass and his family will treasure their pieces especially of the Ponce Inlet lighthouse. He loved to travel extensively around the world with his beloved wife Maralin of 61 years.
He leaves a son, Michael Poth (Jackie) of Aiken, SC; two daughters, Chris Tanner of Narragansett, RI and Nan Bland (Sam) of Martinsburg, WV; one granddaughter, Cortney Neel (Scott); four step-grandchildren Shelly Bland, Travis Bland (Ann), Seth Miller, Drew Miller; one great-granddaughter Maddy; and a step-great-grandson Canyon.
His funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, 4931 S. Peninsula Drive, Ponce Inlet, FL 32127 will be appreciated.
