GREENWOOD – Paul MacGowan Stratton, 95, resident of 119 Kenilworth Drive, died Wednesday February 20, 2012 at Hospice House.

Born October 13, 1917 in Brockway, PA. Paul was the youngest son of Anna McGreggor Aikmen and James MacGowan Stratton. He served as a Staff Sgt in the US Army Air Corps. for four years. After an honorable discharge he married Mary Frances Scoggins on June 16, 1946. He then moved to Charlotte, NC to become an Optician and start a family. They had three sons, Gary MacGowan, Craig Nesmith and Jeff Matthew. His oldest, Gary lives in Greenwood with his wife Kay, for the last 42 years. Craig and his wife reside in Scottsville, VA and Jeff, the youngest is in Rock Hill, SC. Grandchildren: Heather, Laura, Shawn, James, Paul, Meagan and Matthew. Great-grandchildren: Jackson, Chloe, Aislinn, Anderson and Anniston.

Paul and Fran retired to Garden City, SC where they established themselves in the community. He was active in the Murrells Inlet Presbyterian Church and their Clown Ministry. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, local fire department and later for York County Hospice after Fran’s passing.He preceded in death by his wife, February 15, 2004, his brothers, John Charles and James David respectively.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 23rd from 6 to 8 pm at Blyth Funeral Home.
