Mildred ‘Micki’ McPeak

AIKEN, S.C. – Mrs. Mildred “Micki” McPeak Protzeller, longtime resident of Shreveport, Louisiana, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Aiken, South Carolina. She was born February 18, 1926 to Walter and Mary Martin McPeak and was raised on the family farm in Renwick, Iowa.

She is survived by her son Bruce Protzeller (Marilyn) of Aiken; her sisters-in-law, Maxine McPeak of Renwick, Iowa, and Betty Sheasgreen of Fairfield, Iowa; and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of more than fifty-seven years, Harry W. Protzeller, and by her brother, Milford McPeak.

She loved cats and dogs and was never without at least two pets. She had a wonderful singing voice and enjoyed playing piano and organ. She enjoyed sailing and flying with her husband and son. They lived all over the United States while her husband was in the Air Force. After his retirement, they started a marine accessories business. She enjoyed travel, crossword puzzles, and sweets of any description.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in the chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, Aiken.

In lieu of flowers, Micki would have appreciated contributions to the SPCA Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Rd., Aiken, SC 29801.
