CITY OF RESIDENCE – Mary Loretta Burris Gaskin, 80, died on January 10, 2013. Loretta was born to Homer and Adele Burris on May 15, 1932 and was raised in Aiken County, South Carolina. After graduating from South Carolina State College she moved to New York. She worked for General Motors Acceptance Corporation for 29 years and was a very active member of Community Baptist Church.

Loretta is survived by her husband of 57 years, Rev. Willie B Gaskin, Jr.; son Cedric; stepchildren Gregory and Valderie Gaskin; grandsons Cedric , Jr. and Connell Gaskin and Omar Williams; granddaughter Andrea (Tyrone) Capehart; great- granddaughters Cennya Gaskin and Giovanna Capehart; brother Ray Burris; sisters Evetta Barrett and Sadie (Dr. Albert) Smith; sisters-in-law Mable Burris, Legatha Burris, and Willie Mae Davis; aunt Inez Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and church family. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Chanequa; daughter-in-law Cheryl Gaskin died five days after Loretta. Funeral services have been held.
