Lucille ‘Lucy’ Walpole
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Rowland Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Matthews officiating. Inter-ment will follow in Pineview Memorial Park.
Lucille Hutchinson Walpole was born on February 15, 1924, in Bessemer, AL. She was the youngest of eight children. She would have turned 89 today.
Lucy attended nursing school during WWII and served in a military hospital in Dallas, TX. In the 1950’s she moved to Aiken, SC and continued her nursing career at DuPont , where she met her husband, Jimmy. They settled with their two sons in North Augusta, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta.
She is survived by her two daughters-in-law, Henriann Jeffcoat Walpole and Vicki T. Walpole; her grandchildren, Staci, Jay and Kelli Walpole, Regan Walpole Roberts, Jason McCollum (Kristen) and Jonathan McCollum (Kimberly); her great-grandchildren, Savannah Walpole, Ariana Walpole, Isla McCollum, Blake and Macee McCollum; as well as cousins and adoring nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her two sons, Douglas Lee Walpole and John David Walpole.
Pallbearers will be Jay Walpole, Jason McCollum, Jonathan McCollum, Jack Healy, Dave Potocik, and T.J. Lester.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until service time.
