Mrs. Pearce was a native of Pikeville, N.C., having made Portsmouth, Va., her residence much of her adult life.
She moved to Aiken, South Carolina to live with her daughter in 2008.
Mrs. Pearce spent her 87 years making life better for those around her. She worked when most women didn’t, but she never lost sight of her goal – to make a comfortable home for her husband and daughter. Hers was a special bond with her grandchildren, a bond which extended to her great-grandchildren when she moved to South Carolina following the 2008 death of her husband of 61 years.
MeMo loved her family, her friends and her church, serving as a Sunday School teacher to preschoolers and singing soprano in the choir at Fairview Heights Baptist Church for many years. She was a long-time member of the South Loxley Place Garden Club.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Phyllis P. and Thomas E. Britt of Aiken; three grandchildren, C.P. McDonough Britt of Warrenville, Catherine (and Scott) Brown of Warrenville and Elizabeth (and Vince) Bartges of Greenville; three great-grandchildren, Caden M. Britt, Payton E. Brown and Pearce B. Bartges; a sister, Ruby Mae Price, Portsmouth, Va.; nephews Donald A. Price and T. Eric Price, both of Portsmouth; and various other nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Camellia Wing staff at NHC, North Augusta.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday morning one hour prior to the service.
