NICKELSVILLE, VA – Geraldine “Jerrie” Ruth Frazier, 80, of Nickelsville, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 25, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center (Kingsport, TN).

Jerrie was born October 5, 1932 in Kingsport, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Charles Minton and Velma Henry Minton. She was a graduate of Shoemaker High School (Gate City, VA).

During her lifetime, Jerrie was employed by and retired from Owens Corning.

Jerrie was a loving mother and homemaker and truly was an inspiration to all. She was the foundation of her family.

Jerrie had a love for sports. She also enjoyed sewing, decorating, and playing card games. She also held a very special place in heart for her beloved pets, Shotzie (now deceased) and Brigitte.

Jerrie was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church (Nickelsville, VA). She had a special love for gospel music and was very dedicated to coordinating the groups for the church’s gospel singings. She was a very hard worker for her church.

In addition to her parents, Jerrie is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Fuller Frazier; a brother, Roy Lee Minton; and a sister, Freeda Carter.

Survivors of Jerrie Frazier include 2 daughters, Pamela Gail Meyers (Nickelsville, VA), and Vangela Brodsky (Florida); 6 grandchildren, Brad Tobin and wife Leila, Brandy Tobin, Brent Meyers and wife Jody, Heather Toney and husband Paul, Chelsea Brodsky and Andy Moynehan, and Jake Brodsky; 4 great- grandchildren, Drew Meyers, Luke Greene, Natalie Meyers, and Max Tobin; 2 sisters, Wanda Lane (Weber City, VA), and Jackie Fuller and husband John (Snowflake, VA); special friends, Diana Shutts (Big Moccasin, VA), Della Robinson (Aiken, SC), and Jake and Sarah Gilliam.

The family received friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home (Weber City, VA). A funeral service was held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jerrie’s beloved pastor, Rev. Larry Spivey, officiating. Music was provided by family and friends.

Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the family cemetery located on Big Moccasin Road. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to service time. Pallbearers will be John Stallard, Bill Stallard, Drew Meyers, Andy Moynehan, Brent Meyers, Brad Tobin, and Josh Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Coy Arnold, Matt Smothers, Herbert Blevins, Jake Brodsky, and Jake Gilliam.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerrie’s memory may be made to New Bethel Baptist Church (634 Whitetail Circle, Nickelsville, Virginia 24271).

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bristol Home Health (Gate City, VA), especially Jerrie’s nurse April, and also to Dr. Marta Wayt and staff, for their loving care of Jerrie.
