WAYNESBORO, GA – Mr. George L. Wilson, Jr., 67, of Waynesboro, GA and a former resident of Graniteville, SC, affectionately known as the “Hayman”, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013.

Born in Aiken County, SC, he was a son of the late George L. Sr and Nancy Mae Jackson Wilson. Raised in Graniteville, SC, he had been a resident of Waynesboro, GA, for the last twenty-eight years. A former Pipefitter, he retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #150. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed riding horses, farming, racing cars, boating, and fishing and was a pilot. He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association and the AQHA.

In addition to his parents, family members include daughters, Angela “Angie” L. Wilson-Maxey and Beth A. Wilson DeLaigle, both of Waynesboro, GA; grandchildren, Sandy Ashley, Amanda Jackson, Jacob Jackson and Kristina R. Atkins and great-grandchildren, Truett Ashley, Jonathan L. Atkins, Jr. and Kailey M. Atkins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 11th, 2013, at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC, with Evangelist Rick Register officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Graniteville, SC.

The family has asked that memorials be made to the American Heart Association. (

The family will greet friends on Friday, May 10th, 2013, from 7 until 9 o’clock at Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Langley, SC.
