Dorothy ‘Dot’ JeanJohnson Morrell

AIKEN – Funeral services for Dorothy “Dot” Jean Johnson Morrell, 83, of Aiken, will be held at 3 PM Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Chapel of GEORGE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER, Aiken. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Fred Andrea. A private burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Morrell, widow of Jerry Morrell, passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2013. Born in Aiken County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Josephine Heath Johnson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Aiken, where she taught children’s Sunday school classes for 57 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Surviving are her daughters, Lindy Waters (Gerald) and Debbie Waters (Thirl) all of Aiken; a son, Andy Morrell (Beverly) of Aiken; 5 grandchildren, Tom Bell of Colorado Springs, Angi Stroud of Aiken, Erica Duncan (Mitchell) of Aiken, Matt Beck of Charlotte and Kelli Bach (Mike) of Aiken and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband of 52 years, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hutson Johnson and sisters, Marie Johnson and Bonnie Cornwell.
