JACKSON, SC – Memorial services for Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Shires, 61, of North Hankinson Street, Jackson, who entered into rest February 8, 2013, will be conducted Monday, February 18 at 6:30 at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Michael Adams officiating.

Mrs. Shires was a native of Hartsville, S.C., having made Jackson her home for the past 16 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Outcast League Secretary at Northside Lanes.

She was a devoted mother, pastor’s wife, and an Augusta Christian School teacher who loved all of her students. Mrs. Shires was preceded in death by her son, Ronald W. Shires; her brother, William Thomas Mote, Jr.; and her sister, Martha Jean Mote.

Survivors include her soul mate and husband of 43 years, Rev. Donald J. Shires (Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church); a son, Donald J. Shires, Jr., Beaufort, S.C.; an adopted daughter, Penny Mangum, McBee, S.C.; three grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Thomas Mote, Chatanooga, T.N.; and a sister, Alice JoAn Dear, Shelby, N.C.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8.
