Weekend Hideaway places third in Grade 2 Futurity Stakes

Red and Black Stable's Weekend Hideaway finished third Sunday, beaten 4-lengths, in his first graded stakes start, the 6-furlong $200,000 Grade 2 Futurity Stakes at Belmont Park. Weekend Hideaway was trained in Aiken by Todd Turner.

The juvenile son of the 2004 Eclipse Award winning Sprinter Speightstown won his stakes debut, the 6-furlong David Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 29 by daylight, as he drove to the wire in impressive fashion scoring a 6 1/4-length victory. Weekend Hideaway is conditioned by Phil Serpe.

The chestnut colt broke his maiden in his second start, in a 5-furlong contest over an off track at Saratoga on Aug. 10 by 6 3/4-lengths. Jockey Jose Lezcano, who had ridden Weekend Hideaway in his three previous starts, had the return call on Sunday.

Weekend Hideaway has 2 wins, 1 second and 1 third from 4 lifetime starts, and has earned $128,000.
