Aiken trained Horse of the Year It's Tricky returns in Saturday's Beldame

The 2011 Aiken Trained Horse of the Year Godolphin Racing's It's Tricky returns in the 1 1/8-mile $400,000 Grade 1 Beldame Invitational Stakes Saturday at Belmont Park. The 4-year-old multiple Grade 1 winning filly was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones.

It's Tricky made an inspiring and courageous recovery after badly stumbling while breaking from the gate in her last start the 1 1/8-mile Grade 1 Personal Ensign Handicap to finish third, being beaten by only 1 1/2-lengths at Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 26.

The bay filly scored three consecutive stakes victories in her first three starts of 2012, winning the Grade 2 Top Flight Handicap, the Grade 2 Distaff Handicap and the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Handicap. A three time Grade 1 winner, including winning two-thirds of the New York Racing Association's Triple Tiara during her sophomore campaign, It's Tricky is conditioned by Kiaran McLaughlin. Jockey Eddie Castro has the return call on the daughter of the 2003 Horse of the Year Mineshaft, who will break from post position no. 6 and carry 123 pounds in the 7 horse field. It's Tricky last worked on Sept. 22, breezing a half-mile in 49 seconds at the Greentree Training Center.

It's Tricky has 8 wins, 3 seconds and 1 third, and has earned $1,586,500.
