Midland Valley 3

Silver Bluff 1

The Midland Valley High School volleyball team defeated Silver Bluff in a match Wednesday. The Mustangs (4-8) prevailed in four games, winning 25-8, 27-25, 22-25, 25-13. Kayla Morris led Midland Valley with 13 kills while Christa Durden added six more and teammate Brittany Campbell had a team-best 32 assists.

In the junior varsity match, the Mustangs prevailed again. They improved their record to 10-2 on the season following the 25-16, 25-22 victory. Both Midland Valley teams will return to action today at Swansea.


Kennedy M.S. 26

Ridge Spring-Monetta 14

The Kennedy Middle School football team remained undefeated on the season following a 26-14 win over Ridge Spring-Monetta (2-1), the Trojans first loss of the 2012 campaign. Colby Campbell had touchdown runs of 5 and 15 yards for Kennedy (3-0), which also got a 20-yard scoring run from Paul Williams. Harold Hilton was on the receiving end of a 20-yard touchdown pass from D'Najee Whosendove for Kennedy, which will next play Paul Knox at South Aiken High School next Wednesday.

Leavalle McCambell 0

The Paul Knox Midle School football team evened its record on the season to 1-1 following a 38-0 win over Leavalle McCambell. William Valentine had touchdown runs of 20 and 40 yards for Paul Knox, which also got scoring runs from Kajon Green (15 yards), Dejuan Bell (10 yards) and Alex Hart (6 yards).


Lander Men 4

USC Aiken 3

The USC Aiken men's soccer team scored three second-half goals, but it wasn't enough in a 4-3 Peach Belt Conference loss to Lander. The Pacers got on the board when Tobias Haenschke headed in a long cross from Noel Mais. Less than 2 minutes later, Mark Hanlon was fouled in the box and scored on a penalty kick. Mohamed Fall scored the Pacers' final goal of the game.

Lander Women 3

USC Aiken 0

The USC Aiken women's soccer team fell at home 3-0 to Lander in Peach Belt Conference action. Lander finished the match with a 24-15 shot advantage against Pacer goalkeeper Alli Edens, who made 10 saves.
