Vacation Bible School

"Operation Overboard: Dare to go deep with God" is the theme for Vacation Bible School at South Aiken Presbyterian Church, 1711 Whiskey Road. Aiken Unitarian Universalist Church service entitled "Hope Needs Only Hands and Hearts" will be led by activist and author Marc Adams on Sunday, July 1. Adams is a humanist minister who has spoken to more than 160 UU congregations around the United States, primarily regarding gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues. Adams is the author of nine books including, "The Preacher's Son" and "Do's & Don'ts of Dealing with the Religious Right." His newest book, "It's Not About You: Understanding Coming Out & Self-Acceptance" deals compassionately with the issue of disclosure reaction. Adams' presentation covers an often dark side of life, and he bridges the serious discussion with humor and all-encompassing human compassion.
