Patriot reflections for Nov. 1
It was an eventful week at Wardlaw Academy. The athletic teams hit the field and court and students were busy in the classrooms. The Varsity volleyball team won their final regular season contest against Heathwood Hall in Columbia on Tuesday. Early Friday morning, the entire school lined up to wish the Lady Patriots luck as they travelled to Sumter to play in the state tournament. The ladies started off with a victory against James Island Christian, but then lost in the following round to Coastal Christian. The girls fought hard in their next match and moved on to the semi-finals with a win over Cambridge Academy. They faced fierce competition against Cathedral and lost. We are proud of our Lady Patriots as they finished the season with a record of 22 wins and 5 losses, and a region championship!
On Wednesday, the PSAT was administered at Wardlaw Academy. Students in grades 8 through 11 were well prepared to conquer the test through great preparation from our wonderful teachers. Later that afternoon, the 4th and 5th grade journeyed to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia for their annual overnight field trip. They enjoyed seeing behind the scenes work of zookeepers, meeting animals up-close, and even seeing the night cages of the animals!
The Junior Varsity football team won their final home game of the season over Patrick Henry Academy. To wrap up the sports week, the Varsity football team won their game against undefeated Carolina Academy. The Lower School Junior Cheerleaders made us proud with an outstanding performance at halftime. The Patriots remain undefeated this year as they travel to rival King Academy to play Friday night in their last regular season game of the year. Friday was also Senior Night at Wardlaw Academy as senior football players, cheerleaders, and statistician were recognized at halftime of the football game for their efforts throughout the years in the football program.
That wraps up this week. Be sure to follow all of our school's news on www.wardlawacademy.com, and also, "like" our new Facebook page. Go Patriots!
