Teachers, staff, students and parents honored at Fox Creek
North Augusta Optimist Club recently sponsored its annual Fox Creek High School Teacher of the Year Banquet at the North Augusta Community Center.
The awards banquet has expanded this year to include the Teacher of the Year, Professional of the Year, Student of the Year and Volunteer of the Year.
The 2013 Teacher of the Year is two-time winner Bill Warnken. Warnken was also the 2009 Fox Creek Teacher of the Year. He has been with the school as a social studies teacher for seven years and teaches History 101 and 102 in the school's college level Silver Fox Academy.
Warnken was presented with "The Red Jacket." The Red Jacket is presented to the teacher of the year each year by the former teacher of the year in a tradition started by the school several years ago.The 2013 Professional of the Year is Holly Sanders. Sanders has been Fox Creek's office manager for three years. Before coming to Fox Creek, she worked for Edgefield County School District in its district office.
Sanders is a graduate of North Augusta High School.
The 2013 Student of the Year is Haley Bryant. Haley is a senior and is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. She is also a member of the school's volleyball and basketball teams.
The 2013 Volunteer of the Year is Joy Bryant. Bryant is the vice-president of Fox Creek's Parent-Teacher-Community Association. The PTCA annually raises approximately $10,000 for Fox Creek academic projects.
