Juniors dominating North Augusta softball team
Brooke LaVallee, with North Augusta High School's softball program, looks to connect in her squad's 19-0 win Thursday over Fox Creek.

The junior class dominates this year's softball roster at North Augusta High School, with six players on board for the 2013 varsity campaign.

Derrick Quinn, returning as the Lady Yellow Jackets' coach, has left-fielder Grace Flanders, pitcher Meghan Whitfield, first-baseman Chelsea Newman, right-fielder Haley Dunbar, third-baseman Kaleigh Busbee and second-baseman Brooke Lavallee as his juniors.

The senior corps has center-fielder Sarah Fulmer and shortstop Jacquie Hill, and the sophomores include outfielder Katie Foss and first-baseman Morgan Franklin.

The squad also has a pair of freshmen, in catcher Maddie Shiver and pitcher Natalie Burke. Rounding out the squad is a single eighth-grader: Grace Wallace, a catcher.

Quinn's bunch had its first home game of the season Tuesday, against Lexington, and is to be in action at home again March 12, versus South Aiken; and March 19 against Dutch Fork.
