Fox Creek softball off to slow start
Fox Creek High School's softball program has faced some rough turf in its first few games, with the Lady Predators tuning up for region play - an arena that Fox Creek has dominated in almost every season of the softball program's existence.
Coach David Bell's squad, taking part in Midland Valley's annual tournament, was clubbed by White Knoll in the opener, Feb. 25, 6-1; and sustained a 19-0 massacre Feb. 28 against North Augusta. Friday, Silver Bluff administered a 12-0 beating, and a Saturday game against Saluda was more competitive, at 6-3.
Aside from the tournament, Fox Creek went on to play a Monday game at Batesburg-Leesville, and was mugged to the tune of 11-1.
Fox Creek's senior corps is a foursome: Ashlyn Carpenter, left field and third; Summer Payne, pitcher; Corrie Hall (team captain), third; and Stefanie Bloedel, pitcher and center field.
The juniors are Nicole Gibson, center and right field; Sabrina Ladousier, outfield; and Britney Cross, second base.
Sophomores on board are Erin Harrison, first; Harley Muniz, utility; and Hannah Culpepper, pitcher and center field.
Completing the squad are freshmen Betty Vignati, shortstop; Morgan Matthews, catcher; and Vanessa Boulware, utility.
