Quilter will be remembered
Showing one of her creations in this 2011 picture is Peaceful Hearts Quilting Guild member Peggy Kelly, who died Jan. 20. This particular creation, showing a "roadkill chicken," was a gift to her grandson, Kevin James, who was attending Butler University, in Indiana, at the time.

We remember our friend and fellow quilter, Peggy Kelly, who died Jan. 20, 2013. She had been a member of PHQ since 1997.

Not only did Peggy quilt beautifully, she crocheted exquisite tablecloths. Two years ago, she created a 3-foot Santa Claus that was a holiday greeter at the Arts and Heritage Center in North Augusta.

I went to see her a year ago at St. John Towers and she was teaching her caregiver to knit. She never ceased giving of herself.

Peggy created a wall hanging, "Roadkill," for her grandson's college dorm room. Her grandson, Kevin James, attends Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind. We all remember it fondly and it gave us many laughs. It was made of feathers from a boa scarf, which became the unfortunate chicken that was run over by a painted tire.

We miss Peggy and will remember her with love.
