CHAPLAIN'S CORNER: Nothing to fear

The prayer on that Sunday morning included the words, "Bring peace to the things that concern us, worry us, and even terrify us." I thought about the words from the great hymn, "Just as I Am," and "Fightings and fears within, without." Do dread and worry frighten us to the extent that we sometimes feel like sounding the alarm or pushing the panic button? Fear does operate as a powerful motivator, and we all experience this emotion, but I believe that faith is stronger than fear. "And He said to them, 'Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?'" (Mark 4:40).
