Jail-and-bail event to take place

Mayor Lark Jones and the Rev. Dr. John Newell are to be behind bars - lightweight ones - in a few days, in an effort to raise money for mission trips based at Grace United Methodist Church.

A jail-and-bail event is set for March 8 at The Wesley Center, starting at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds are to help bankroll the church's annual Bolivia trips and a trip to "Give Kids the World," a Florida-based facility that provides a retreat, including food, lodging and amusement park-style entertainment, for terminally ill children and their families.

Admission for the March 8 event is free, and live music will be provided by the church's praise bands and guitar groups for kids. Cookies and refreshments will be served. Call for more details at 279-7525.
