• A man from Augusta is a suspect in a case of simple possession of marijuana and resisting arrest, after a Feb. 21 traffic stop on Georgia Avenue, near the state line. He was noticed speeding (50 miles an hour in a 35 zone), and the vehicle smelled of marijuana. While being processed, the man was "elbow-striking" officers attempting to make the arrest.

• A teenager from Augusta was arrested and jailed Feb. 15 on a charge of driving under the influence and simple possession of marijuana, after a traffic stop at Clifton and West avenues. He had been noticed speeding (48 miles an hour in a 30 zone), and the smell of marijuana came from the vehicle's interior, which was found to include a digital scale and a clear jar, both bearing marijuana residue. Also found was "a clear plastic baggy with a brown and green leafy substance consistent with marijuana."

• A Hammond Drive residence was the scene of a burglary Feb. 14, with $1,200 in items being stolen, including two yellow chains with crosses, a yellow class ring from Leavelle McCampbell High School and a yellow ring with an onyx stone. The burglar(s) cut through a screen on a rear porch.
