Members of N.A. High School Beta Club rack up state-level honor
Several members of the North Augusta High School Beta Club racked up state-levels honors in the state convention, held Feb. 1-2 in Myrtle Beach, with the most prominent honor going to Amber Perry, whose acrylic painting won first place and an invitation to attend the national Beta Club convention.
The 75th annual state convention had 105 of the high school club's 205 members in attendance. Nominated for state-level honors were teacher Lauren Dukes (for sponsor of the year) and student Alex Ward (for state secretary).
The foursome of Joey Baldwin, Micah Farrar, Daniel Pippin and Erin Spivey won fourth place, out of 20 teams, in the Quiz Bowl competition.
A candidate campaign skit by Nick Barrs, Jake Blackmon, Bronwyn Bigger, Christian Ditty, Dylan Jenkins, Zack Rogers, Luke Smith, Alex Ward, Eric White and Hampton Williams won third place.
Shelby Kenrick won second place (and an invitation to the national convention) for her colored-pencil creation, and second place in the "Large Group Talent" category went to a creation entitled "Toy Story 4: Andy Goes to Convention," by Amelia Carter, Tori Wise, Kelsey Cox, Bronwyn Bigger, Shelby Kenrick, Connor Usry, Ariana Williams and Laura Beth Winchester.
The national convention is to be held June 15-22, in Mobile, Ala.
