North Augusta Sports Hall of Fame induction banquet
Local standouts with a variety of talents will be among the honorees Saturday evening at the North Augusta Sports Hall of Fame's annual induction banquet.
The event, to be held in The Wesley Center, at Grace United Methodist Church, is to begin at 6 p.m., and the "Athletes of Distinction" honorees range in age from 12 (Amari Young) to 68 (Doug Hixon).
Young is being honored for her excellence in the long jump, in track and field, while Hixon's forte is softball, which he pursues on the senior circuit.
Their fellow honorees, with their respective areas of expertise, are Eric Collins, swimming; Parker Collins, football; Jackson Cooper, cup stacking; Nicole Fuller, swimming; Colt Gross, shooting; Ben Lown, golf; Trey Morgan, football; Devonte Pressley, football; and Kelsey Wiliams, swimming.
As featured in The Star in recent weeks, the evening's spotlight will also be on Ray Walters, Frank Staley, Charlie Williams, the late Charles Overstreet, and North Augusta High School's 1949 baseball team.
