American Legion Unit 71 helps with quilts
Members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 71 donated money to the 67th Signal Corps Battalion FRG at Fort Gordon in Augusta to help with mailing expenses to have more than 200 Camouflage Quilts shipped from Plymouth, Wis., to Fort Gordon. The camo quilt is a small quilt measuring approximately 45 by 72 inches. The quilt folds in thirds and rolls up like a sleeping bag. It is lightweight and has cotton batting so it can breathe better in extreme heat. These quilts are slept on and slept under, and can be used for pillows. They are made by volunteers and are given to troops free of charge. The FRG invited Unit 71 to help with embroidering messages from family members onto the quilts. The quilts will be sent to Afghanistan in time for Valentine's Day along with a card with the name of the soldier.
