Fox Creek wins two in holiday tourney

Christmas break included two wins and one loss for Fox Creek High School's boys' basketball program, with the Predators taking part in the Monterrey Christmas Tournament, held at Evans High School.

The Predators started Thursday by nipping Hephzibah, 57-53. They lost Friday against Grovetown, 48-36, and thumped Lincoln County on Saturday, 57-45.

Fox Creek's Marquis Sumner was chosen for the all-tournament team, having made his case with 20 points against Hephzibah and 15 against Lincoln County.

Predators' coach Andre Baskett said his squad may get its toughest test of the region schedule Friday at Hunter-Kinard-Tyler. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

The Predators' next home match is scheduled to be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at against Ridge Spring-Monetta.Baskett credited Chris Harmon, D.J. Curry and Brandon Quiller with exceptional defense so far in the season. He also noted that this week could bring big news for the team, as Deondre Baskett was to have undergone a medical exam Monday, to assess his progress since sustaining a knee injury against Wagener-Salley.
