AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Ruby Lee Goodin Pettis, of Aiken, SC, entered into rest on Friday, January 25, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Mr. Butler “Junior” Pettis, a sister, Loree Goodin and a granddaughter, Dana Lain.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry Pettis (Jean), Lexington, KY, Donald Pettis (Rhea), Hickory, NC and Ted Lee Pettis (late Beth), Aiken, SC, five grandchildren: Stacy Jones, Jeff Pettis, Brandy Griswold, Jennifer Turner and Brian Pettis and ten great grandchildren.
Mrs. Pettis was born in Hephzibah, GA to the late Clinton Lee and Ruby Hamlet Goodin. She retired from Walmart as head cashier with over twenty five years of service and she was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. “Mama”, as she was known to so many, found great joy in cooking and having family gatherings at her home as often as possible.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 3 p.m. at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Pettis will be placed in the church on Monday at 2 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jones, Michael Jones, Alan Bell, Chris Turner, Clemson Ennis and Will Metze. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Hutto and Jessie Moyer.
