Adopt a pet for Nov. 8

Heartsong is helping a group named LEASH that recently saved the lives of more than 60 animals scheduled for euthanasia at the animal shelter in Chesterfield. Pictured, from left, are Lynn Tollison with Sierra, a brown lab mix puppy and on a leash is Francesca, a border collie mix; Lars Swearingen , cirector of LEASH (Leading each animal safely home) and Clarence, a 1-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier; Loretta Emmons, director of Heartsong, with Moe, a male dachshund rat terrier mix; Mary Morrison with Mazie, a diluted calico kitten that does not have a tail; Anne Sawyer with Mazie's twin sister, Chloris; and Avis Lyle, holding Sheldon, a Chihuahua rat terrier mix. The clinic is a block off I-20 at 421 Belair Road, where cats and dogs are also available for adoption.
