Chaplain's corner: Sore thumb
A nagging injury prompted me to linger on that old phrase describing something or someone as sticking out "like a sore thumb." It seemed that my injured thumb found every possible opportunity to make contact with objects around it, constantly reminding me of its presence. Perhaps all of us experience times when we feel somewhat vulnerable and out of place. Constant awareness of our anxiety causes us to identify with that proverbial sore thumb. I am grateful for caring and perceptive people who reach out to give support during these times. "Let all that you do be done in love" (1 Corinthians 16:14).
