Chaplain's Corner: Peaceful Silence
Our spirits long for tranquility. Glenna Oldham's prayer speaks of God creating a space in our hearts where "restlessness becomes restfulness and anxiety becomes peaceful silence." Power and might regularly move in silence, and growth occurs all around us without clamor. The moon exerts silent power over the tides, and we cannot hear the great power of the sun. The Psalmist understood this peaceful silence. "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" (Psalm 46:10).
