Chaplain's Corner: Living hope
At last year's Easter Sunrise service, we positioned the chairs toward the east to view the sunrise. During the service, beautiful rays of emerging sunlight greeted us. Sunrise serves as a metaphor for resurrection, and the gradual light builds hope. Charles L. Allen said, "…when you say a situation or a person is hopeless, you're slamming the door in the face of God." The reality of Easter gives us hope like no other event in history."
By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." (I Peter 1:3b)
