Chaplain's Corner: Canvas memories

I find it difficult to believe that 22 years have passed since that Palm Sunday service in Saudi Arabia. A young soldier from Florida stood and sang, unaccompanied, the timely, powerful lyrics, "Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me ..." We worshiped in a tent assembled on desert sands on that day that marked our final Sunday before returning to American soil. The smell of canvas brings back wide-ranging memories, and this stands as a positive one for me.

"Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord - the King of Israel!"(John 12:13).
