Fletcher Dickert shows leadership
As many of you may know, I have had the honor of serving the North Augusta community as mayor many years ago. In recent years, I have been privileged to serve as the chairman of North Augusta 2000, a forward-looking body of involved citizens whose goal has been to plan for the City's future success. Since its inception, this group of progressive North Augustans has been able to set and accomplish many initiatives which have made North Augusta a better place to live, work and raise a family. One community enhancing initiative that I'm extremely proud of is the creation of the Leadership North Augusta Program. This program is designed to identify and cultivate young leaders in our area. Each year, a new group of young professionals is selected to participate, and they spend an entire year learning about the inner workings of our city, and the issues we face. They learn the significance of good leadership skills, and the difference that effective leadership can make in the success of a growing city such as ours. As they complete the program, we challenge each participant to step up and become our leaders for the future.
I'm proud to say that one of the excellent products of this program is Fletcher Dickert, who completed the class two years ago. He demonstrated his leadership abilities during the class as he took charge of their class project, and assembled a team to construct an outdoor classroom for North Augusta Elementary School. We recognized his outstanding leadership skills and invited him to join the board of directors for the program, on which he now serves as the president-elect.
Fletcher Dickert represents the future of our town. His solid abilities and thoughtful ideas will help shape the direction in which we will grow. His concern for balance while improving our quality of life will help ensure responsible growth in a positive direction. I feel quite confident that with Fletcher on City Council, North Augusta will thrive. I am proud to say that I know Fletcher and support him for Council. A young man of his character, spirit, and enthusiasm will be the type of leader of whom we can all be proud.
Please join me in voting for Fletcher Dickert for City Council on Tuesday, Feb. 12.
