Whinghter resigns from Council

Jason Whinghter is now a former North Augusta City Council member, having resigned Friday - a few weeks early as a result of an unusually fast home sale.

Whinghter, a residential development manager with Blanchard and Calhoun, moved Saturday from North Augusta to an area between Beech Island and Jackson. He had anticipated being able to complete his term, but could no longer serve on Council due to his moving outside of North Augusta.

He was first elected in 2005 and reelected in 2009. This year's election will be held on Feb. 12, with Mayor Lark Jones, Councilman Pat Carpenter and Councilman Arthur Shealy all running for re-election, and challengers Fletcher Dickert and David McGhee having filed to run, as well.
